Close the main valve
Find the valve at the meter or where the supply enters the property and turn it fully closed. If the meter keeps turning with the valve shut, the loss is between the meter and the valve — tell us that on the call.
Switch the geyser off at the board
If water is coming through a ceiling or a wall near a geyser, trip the geyser circuit at the distribution board. Do not climb into the roof void.
Contain what you can
Buckets, towels and moving furniture buy time. Lift rugs off wet screed and put something under furniture legs to keep water out of the timber.
Call us, then photograph
Phone the technician line. While we are on the road, photograph the stain, the meter reading and the affected area — those images support the insurance claim.
